You just may be a Disaster Relief Chainsaw volunteer waiting to be trained!
We will be conducting chainsaw training both in class and on-site for those interested in chainsaw certification (Sawyers) or (Swampers) for those not interested in handling the saws but willing to work around the Sawyers. Swampers are required to attend for the safety aspects and certification.
Friday, May 16th at 6:00 p.m. There will be a safety class provided which should last no more than 2 hours. Meals are on your own so eat before coming.
Saturday, May 17th at 9:00 a.m. Breakfast is on your own. We will meet at the church and travel to the local property for Hands-On saw work, lunch provided, continue working on cleanup and head home in the afternoon.
If traveling some distance, “Disaster Relief Camping” will be available please let us know if you are planning on this there are no showers at the church (though a kitchen will be available).
Please bring appropriate clothing for the weather, work gloves, boots, and if you have additional safety items. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided for those handling saws.
Please contact John Moysiuk at 360-584-8373 if you are planning on attending. He needs a count of who will be attending for certification purposes, enough food for lunch on Saturday, and how much PPE to bring along with saws and other supporting equipment.
